Cats in the Night

When we arrived to the town,

In the middle of a cold and silent night,

No one came out to welcome us,

But a cat with curious eyes.

He walked slowly in our direction,

Never taking his eyes off of us.

In the darkness, his eyes glowed

Like two large stars.

When he finally came close enough,

And we could see his orange fur,

He asked if we were lost.

His voice was firm but sweet.

We explained we were traveling,

But the night had caught us in a

Road unknown to us. We explained

We were thirsty, and the cat nodded.

You can stay for the night, the cat said,

As long as you don’t mind a town full

Of cats. He led us towards a bright house,

As our eyes started to give up.
