Artichokes like Comets
Joy Parade
When the day is over, and we both
Get home, after another day of work,
She’ll be there. Smiling
By the door.
Even before we turned around the
Corner, her ears will go up,
Knowing we are close. Today
And the days to come.
With her eyes open wide, and a tail
That can stop celebrating,
She’ll welcome us
One more time.
You and I get home, and are
Received by a parade of joy.
Always waiting for us,
To make us smile.
In our memories, she’ll hide,
Every time we return home.
And when we think of her,
The smile will come back.
