Artichokes like Comets
The Seashell You Brought Back
When the night arrives, and it’s dark
Outside, I turned and look at the seashell
You once brought back for me.
The lines around the seashell’s body
Curve gracefully, as the wrinkles next
To your smile once did too.
The room is filled with their oceanic
Presence, and when I close my eyes
I can see the beaches we went to.
Once, some time ago, too long ago,
Your body rolled in the sand and the
Seashells around us danced with you.
When the night arrives, and the silence
Sets, I look at the seashells and think
You and the sun are hiding,
one more time.
